In the original Rudyard Kipling books, the Bandar-log are a leaderless group of anarchist langur monkeys. Although the Disney film radically modifies the traits of many of the principal characters (Baloo, in particular), King Louie is fabricated wholesale.

This juvenile, female gorilla friend of Tarzan from Disney’s Tarzan represents a particularly egregious departure from the original Edgar Rice Burroughs novel. One of the Apes (not gorillas) from Tarzan’s tribe was named Terkoz. Terkoz was a bull Ape, the son of Tublat (Tarzan’s foster father) & the second great rival of Tarzan’s for leadership of the tribe (after Kerchak).
